Step 1: Open the Sessions Page

  1. Go to the Activity tab.

  2. Select Sessions.

This is where all available and created shifts are managed.

Step 2: Choose the Date

Use the calendar at the top of the page to select the date you want to work.

Step 3: Create a Shift

  1. Click Create Bakery Shift.

    • Your community may use a different shift name. If you are unsure, check with your HR team.

  2. A calendar view will appear.

On the right-hand side, you will see:

  • New York time (Eastern Time) at the top

  • Your local time zone shown underneath

Step 4: Select the Shift Type

If multiple shift types are available, use the dropdown at the top of the calendar to select the correct one.

Step 5: Pick a Time

  1. Scroll the calendar to find your desired time, for example, 11:00 AM New York time.

  2. Click the time slot where you want the shift to start.

  3. A blue box will appear showing the start and end time.

Shift lengths are set by your HR department and cannot be changed.

If everything looks correct, click Create.

Step 6: Review Your Shift

Your newly created shift will now appear and can be configured like other sessions and shifts in Hyra.

Restrictions

Your group may have configured restrictions. When creating additional shifts, you may notice:

  • Greyed-out areas labelled Minimum gap

  • Blue areas labelled Can’t start here – too close

These are scheduling rules set by your community to prevent shifts being too close together. You will need to choose a different time if these restrictions appear.
